This week the first Swedish Speed Pitching event was arranged in Malmö. Twenty entrepreneurs, who made it to Thursdays final, came to present their ideas in less than two minutes, a true elevator pitch.
The Speed Pitching concept is inspired by the classic matchmaking concept “Speed Dating”, with one substantial difference; in this case no one is looking for love, instead entrepreneurs and investors are looking for profitable collaborations. In addition to honor and potential investments, the finalists also competed for price money.
The top ten contesters got the chance to pitch to a group of investors in a closed session. Those investors finally selected five contesters that went on to pitch on the public stage. Each finalist then had two minutes to convince the audience that they deserved to win.
“The winning pitch was given by Fredrik Hörte, at Saplo. His pitch was very persuasive and charismatic and won the hearts and minds of both investors and the audience”

At fourth place: Mattias Tyrberg, the CEO and entrepreneur behind Saplo, has in collaboration with researcher Sverker Sikström developed a technology which automatically can read and understand text in similar way as we humans do.
From InternetWorld (InternetWorld.idg.se):
“At fourth place: Mattias Tyrberg, the CEO and entrepreneur behind Saplo, has in collaboration with researcher Sverker Sikström developed a technology which automatically can read and understand text in similar way as we humans do.
With this technology Saplo for instance intend to create a different search technology and also to optimize current web advertisement technology. Mattias Tyrberg has already received several confirmations, from companies such as Google, Microsoft and IBM, that their semantic technology is unique. Their technology is capable of doing automatic text analysis which interprets the meaning of text, rather than analysing keywords which often produce incorrect search result.
Saplo technology is also capable of determine if articles are positive or negative. This can for example be used by companies to analyse what media and web users write about their products and brands. Saplo will soon have their scalable system ready and it will be interesting to se what Saplo can do to make the web a smarter place.”
